Six Milbank swimmers competed in the Brookings Swim Club Fall Festival Swim Meet on November 5-6. On Saturday, Crosby Bass brought home a first-place win in the 25-meter backstroke and two second-place finishes — one in the 25-meter freestyle and one in the 100-meter freestyle. Bass competes in the seven-eight year-old boys division.
Also on the first day of competition, Sophia Bass earned third in the 100-meter backstroke, fourth in both the 50-meter butterfly and the 100-meter freestyle, and fifth in the 50-meter breaststroke. She competes in the nine to 10-year old girls division.
Thomas Bass, who swims in the 13 to 14-year-old boys division, took fourth place in the 200-meter backstroke, fifth place in the 50-meter freestyle, and seventh in the 100-meter IM and the 500-meter freestyle. Pierce Gapp took eighth place in the. 50-meter breaststroke, ninth in the 100-meter freestyle, and 10th in the 100-meter backstroke. He competes in the nine to 10 year-old boys division. Ryan Steffen and Adrienne Korth attended both days of the meet. Steffen, earned third in the 100-meter IM and the 100-meter breaststroke. He took fourth place in the 100-meter backstroke and the 100-meter freestyle. He also earned fifth place in the 50-meter freestyle and the 50-meter backstroke. In the 50-meter breaststroke, Steffen garnered seventh place, and he captured sixth-place in the 200-yard freestyle. All events were in the nine to 10-year-old boys division.
Adrienne Korth finished in fifth place in the 100-meter butterfly. She also took seventh place in the 200-meter freestyle and the 50-meter butterfly. She earned two 10th-place finishes — one in the 50-meter breaststroke and one in the 50-meter freestyle– and an 11th place finish in the 100-meter freestyle. Korth competes in the 11 to 12-year old girls division. All six swimmers cut time in their races throughout the weekend.
