Whetstone Valley Strings presented a recital on Sunday, November 20 at Living Word Lutheran Church in Milbank. Violin and cello students performed a variety of solos and ensembles, including folk and fiddle songs, Suzuki repertoire, hymns, and Christmas music. The musicians are students of Elizabeth Schulte.

Advanced students performed the string orchestra selections “Seasons of Love,” “Cantique de Noel” (O Holy Night), “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” and “Fum, Fum, Fum.”  Merik Junker. an SDHSAA All-State Orchestra percussionist, was featured on the orchestra pieces.  Megan Tschetter on violin and Chris Hicks on guitar performed with family members’ ensembles. Meg Sholberg on viola and Miriam Schwenn on piano also joined the group.  

Students recognized for their achievements included: Elizabeth Fonder, Twinkle graduation; Leticia Stahl and Kelsey Wipf, Half Book Review;  Joe and Rachel Schulte, SDHSAA All-State Orchestra violinists; and Veronica Fonder, auditioning for  All-State.   

Joseph and Traci Tschetter and Teaneashea Vogel recently submitted auditions for the South Dakota Middle School All-State Orchestra. Results will be announced in December.
