The MHS oral interp team claimed a Team Excellence Award at the 113th Annual South Dakota Oral Interpretation Festival held December 2-3 in Mitchell. According to Milbank’s head coach, Natasha Karels, a Class A school must earn at least two Superior awards at the festival to receive this award. Our team had five entries, and four of them merited a Superior.”
Contestants are scored by three judges. To obtain a Superior award, contestants must record a superior score from at least two of the three judges.
Jericho Jones collected a Superior rating with two perfect scores in Poetry. Jones had two fives and a 10. Gemma Street earned a Superior in Humor with Superior scores from all three judges at six and two sevens. Veronica Fonder received a Superior in Storytelling with two scores of six and an eight.
