The barn door has been shut on the Grant County Farm and Home Show. Jamie Henderson, interim executive director of the Milbank Area Chamber of Commerce (MACC), attributes the permanent closure of the more than 70-year-old show to a decline in attendance and limited availability of venue location.
Although the MACC will no longer host the Grant County Farm and Home Show, Henderson says they appreciate the support from area businesses and the community over the years, and they are reevaluating their event offerings. “The MACC would like to continue to honor the area’s agricultural heritage but also create new opportunities as Milbank grows,” Henderson stated.
“The Grant County Farm and Home Show has been a long-standing tradition for over 70 years. It is truly the end of an era, but we are excited for the opportunity to evolve and create new ways to meet the needs of our Chamber members and the community,” Henderson said. “The MACC is excited to continue to work with the Milbank School District in the future as new partnership opportunities arise.”
