The Valley Queen Charitable Foundation announced a dollar-for-dollar $300,000 matching funds gift to the Legion Baseball Field Fundraising Committee to complete the new American Legion Baseball Field in Milbank.
“Thank you to the charitable foundation for their donation to the new Legion Field,” said Milbank Mayor Pat Raffety. “Our community’s heritage as the birthplace of (American) Legion Baseball will always be a source of pride for residents of Milbank. We know this new field will greatly benefit our community.”

The groundwork for the field was completed last fall, including the installation of specially-engineered turf. This spring, the dugouts, fencing, and additional supporting structures will begin taking shape. It is anticipated the field will be ready for play later this summer.

“The Valley Queen Charitable Foundation is committed to making Milbank a great place to live, work, and play,” said Doug Wilke, Valley Queen Charitable Foundation Chair. “This new baseball field will be a wonderful place for area teams, community members, and baseball fans of all ages to enjoy playing and watching America’s favorite pastime.”
