Gabriel Beckman, son of Rhonda Beckman of Milbank, has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout — the highest award offered to Scouts by the Boy Scouts of America. Beckman will be recognized in a ceremony on Sunday, May 21, at 5 p.m. at Living Word Lutheran Church in Milbank. Everyone is invited to attend this prestigious occasion.
According to his scoutmaster, Jeff Loutsch, Beckman is one of approximately only six percent of all Boy Scouts of America who attain this honor. Beckman earned 21 merit badges (14 of which are Eagle merit badges) and successfully led and completed a community-related service project. He chose to design and build a campfire pit at Living Word Lutheran Church to provide an outdoor space for all to gather in fellowship.
Beckman is a member of Troop 45 and has served as their quartermaster, patrol leader, scribe, and assistant senior patrol leader. He is also a brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow, BSA’s honor society. Troop 45 is chartered by American Lutheran Church in Milbank and is in its 78th chartered year.
