Firefighters from Milbank, Summit, and Marvin responded to nine fires along railroad tracks on Tuesday July 18. The call came in at 4 p.m. The fires extended along the tracks near Highway 12 from 462nd Street to 467th Street.
Milbank Fire Chief David Giesen said, “Train traffic was halted for firefighter safety and also because of the hose lines placed over the tracks due to the rough terrain and steep embankments.” He stated, “Firefighters were on the scene for approximately two hours.”
