Valley Queen Cheese of Milbank was named the Don Baker Award winner — the highest honor granted by the Special Olympics of South Dakota. The award was presented during the organization’s 2023 State Traditional Bowling Tournament banquet in Aberdeen on November 4. Amanda Thronson and Della Stokesbary accepted the award for Valley Queen.

Valley Queen’s nomination commended the company for being a huge supporter of Special Olympics Milbank both financially and in cheer power. It highlighted their amazing willingness to provide whatever is needed and requested. It also stated, “They have adopted the Northeast Area Spring Games as their own. They provide, prepare, and serve lunch at the Games, not only for athletes and coaches, but also for families and spectators. This past year, 35 employees volunteered for the entire day.”

As a nominee, Valley Queen was also singled out for their nearly 10 years of support, including at the state level. “This company and its employees want to be a part of Special Olympics South Dakota, and it shows in everything they do for us!”
