Milbank’s FFA Dairy Cattle Evaluation and Management team was awarded a silver at the 2023 National FFA Convention in Indianapolis. Team members included Cassidy Schwagel, a 2023 MHS graduate; senior Brooke Schwagel; and Kayla Schweer and Bailey Schwagel, both freshmen. Individually, C. Schwagel earned a gold, Bailey and Brooke Schwagel each earned silver, and Schweer brought home a bronze.

Korbin Leddy, a 2022 MHS graduate, was announced as the recipient of an American degree. The American degree is the highest honor awarded to an FFA member. Approximately 3,500 American FFA Degrees are presented each year at the National FFA Convention. That number represents less than half of one percent of all FFA members. In addition to their degree, each recipient receives a gold American Degree key. Leddy is currently a sophomore at South Dakota State University in Brookings.

The 96th convention and expo was held November 1- 4, and included a rodeo, a concert, hypnotist shows, workshops, vendors, tours, and awards ceremonies. The MHS students were accompanied to Indianapolis by their chapter adviser and agriculture teacher, Sara Colombe, and their coach Suzanne Sousa.
