Grant County producers are eligible to sign up for the Livestock Forage Program (LFP) and Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honeybee, and Farm-Raised Fish Program... Deadline for Farmers to Sign Up for LFP and ELAP is January 30

Grant County producers are eligible to sign up for the Livestock Forage Program (LFP) and Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honeybee, and Farm-Raised Fish Program (ELAP), but they must take action now. According to Joel Foster, executive director of the Grant County FSA, the deadline to sign up for both programs is Tuesday, January 30,

LFP provides compensation if livestock producers suffer grazing losses for covered livestock due to drought on privately owned or cash-leased land or due to fire on federally managed land.

ELAP covers grazing losses not covered under the Livestock Forage Disaster Program (LFP), loss of purchased feed and/or mechanically harvested feed due to an eligible adverse weather event, additional cost of transporting water because of an eligible drought, and additional cost associated with gathering livestock to treat for cattle tick fever beginning. Foster says. “ELAP assistance can go back to the date Grant County was first declared D2 on the drought monitor, which would have been July 25, 2023.”
