104 MHS Musicians Perform at Region III Music Contest

Over 100 Milbank High School band members performed during the 2024 Region III Solo and Ensemble Music Contest hosted by Watertown High School. The 104 Milbank musicians presented 34 solos and 12 ensembles. All performances were based on tone, intonation, rhythm, interpretation and musicianship, technique, and other performance factors.

The brass and woodwind ensemble ratings: Superior (I) 35-31 points, Excellent (II) 30-26 points, Good (III) 25-21 points, Fair (IV) 20-16 points, and Poor (V) 15 and under.

The brass and woodwind solo ratings: Superior (I) 30-26 points, Excellent (II) 25-21 points, Good (III) 20-16 points, Fair (IV) 15-11 points, and Poor (V) 10 and under.

The percussion solo and ensemble ratings: Superior (I) 25-21 points, Excellent (II) 20-16 points, Good (III) 15-11 points, Fair (IV) 10-6 points, and Poor (V) 6 and under.

The instrumentals from Milbank received 1 Superior Plus, 27 Superiors, 15 Excellents, and 3 Goods.

Mrs. Susan Karels serves as the band director for MHS. Mrs. Elizabeth Schulte and Mrs. Kristi Seehafer assisted with accompaniment.
