Aubrey Fraasch was named the South Dakota USA Gymnastics Level 8 Beam Champion during the state competition in Box Elder on March 22. She also received runner-up honors for her floor exercise routine.

Aubrey advances to the Region 4 meet in Bettendorf, Iowa, on April 13. In Bettendorf, she will compete against athletes from Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, North and South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

Aubrey, a senior at MHS, started her gymnastics career at the age of five and competed in her first meet as part of the Vertical Horizons Gymnastics – Shooting Stars team at age six. She joined the Milbank varsity squad from seventh through tenth grade and was a member of the record-setting beam team in 2019 and the 2020 team that scored the most total points of 134.40.

Individually, she tied the MHS record on the beam with a score of 9.50 in 2021. She was also South Dakota’s state high school beam runner-up and was selected for the 2022 All-Tournament Team. Aubrey then made the decision to focus on gymnastics year round and currently performs with Dakota Gold Academy in Watertown.
