High winds gusting in excess of 50 mph caused a two-vehicle accident on Highway 20 at 447th Avenue on Saturday, April 6. At approximately 5:50 p.m., Brenden Schwenn of Stockholm, along with his two children, were traveling in their Chevy Equinox, when the wind pulled the vehicle and it crossed over the centerline. The Equinox collided with a Ford F150 pickup driven by Jim Collins of Revillo.

Both men are veteran drivers, and John Weyh of the Milbank Fire and Rescue Department urges all drivers to be extra cautious at the wind breaks. The wind really pushes and pulls even the most experienced drivers when you come out of a sheltered area.”

The Grant County Sheriff and the Grant-Roberts Ambulance responded to the incident.
