Do it Best has annual sales approaching $5 billion. According to the company, United Hardware shareholders had overwhelmingly voted in favor of the merger on April 5.

“This is a significant milestone in our history, and we’re confident that this merger will continue to support the United Hardware dealers at the level of service they expect,” said United Hardware President and CEO Chad Ruth. “The two co-ops share a commitment to supporting independent home improvement retailers, and together, we can amplify our impact for member-owners and customers.”

Do it Best President and CEO Dan Starr echoed Ruth’s sentiments, stating, “We’re thrilled about our union with United Hardware. This partnership represents our shared, deep-seated belief in the co-op model, as well as our dedication to drive member growth in an increasingly competitive market.”

Both United Hardware and Do it Best leadership teams say they are dedicated to ensuring a seamless transition for customers without disruption to their service.”All United Hardware store locations will maintain their independent brand identities, allowing them to retain their autonomy and individuality within the co-operative framework. Ruth explained, “Our Millbank warehouse will continue to serve United Hardware dealers with our strong team and delivery network, now and in the future.”

“Do it Best has eight strategically positioned warehouses that allow us to reach 99 percent of the US population in two days, and the addition of the Milbank warehouse will help further our reach and impact. It will play an important part in our growth strategies moving forward,” confirmed Starr. “We plan to invest in the success of the Millbank warehouse to increase operational efficiencies, personnel safety, SKU mixes, and much more.”
