On Sunday, May 19, at 2:40 p.m., the Milbank Fire and Rescue Department was dispatched to a vehicle fire at 147th Avenue about a half mile north of Highway 12. Milbank Fire Chief David Giesen reported, “A Chevy Trailblazer belonging to Jason Grabow had ruptured a transmission cooler line and sparked a fire in the engine compartment.”
“Upon arrival, firefighters discovered flames and smoke coming from under the hood,” Giesen explained. “By extending a hand line and using foam, we were able to quickly extinguish the blaze.” The owner of the vehicle was unharmed. Firefighters remained on scene for about 20 minutes.
