The Watertown Police Department apprehended Jason Doucette, 45, of Milbank shortly before noon today, May 30, at the Super 8 Motel in Watertown. Police received a tip from a concerned citizen and dispatched a SWAT team to the motel at 503 14th Avenue in Watertown. On their arrival, Doucette refused to cooperate or communicate with the police and barricaded himself in his motel room, but he was taken into custody and transported to the Watertown Detention Center without incident.
Doucette was charged with multiple counts of first degree burglary, forgery, terroristic threats and violation of a protection order.
Doucette had been named as a suspect and a warrant had been issued for his arrest in connection with a string of recent burglaries in the Milbank and Wilmot areas, but is also wanted on charges for crimes he allegedly has committed in Minnesota. The Codington County Detention Center also confirmed Doucette is no longer in their custody and has been moved to another secure facility.
