Darius Christopher Small received fatal injuries in a single vehicle-pedestrian crash  three miles south of Wilmot on Sunday, July 28, at approximately 1:23 a.m.  Preliminary information indicates Small, a 20-year-old male from Summit, was walking in the southbound lane of SD Highway 123 when he was struck by Alyssa J. Feather, a 19-year-old resident of Wilmot and the driver of a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe. Feather was also in the southbound lane. Feather did not sustain any injuries, but was taken into custody. The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

A donation account has been set up at Minnwest Bank in Summit to help the family of Small finance funeral and burial expenses.
