The Milbank High School Band will march in the 2024 Hobo Day Parade in Brookings on Saturday, October 12. The annual South Dakota State University Homecoming celebration has been a Jackrabbit tradition for over 100 years. The Milbank High School Band is under the direction of Susan Karels. The colorguard is instructed by Kristi Seehafer with assistance from Jamie DeBoer.
The Pride of the Dakotas Band from SDSU that marched in the 2022 Macy’s Day Parade will perform in Saturday’s parade. High school bands from Chester, Flandreau, Miller, and Watertown are also scheduled to march.
If you plan to attend: The parade starts at 9:30 a.m. The parade route begins at the corner of Medary Avenue and 11th Street, near the Agricultural Heritage Museum. The route follows Medary Avenue to 6th Street, turns west at 6th Street, follows 6th Street to Main Avenue, turns south onto Main Avenue, and finishes at Front Street.The Jackrabbits will play their Homecoming football game against the Youngstown State Penguins at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium. Kick-off is 2 p.m.
