The Bulldogs will face the West Central Trojans this Friday night at A.B. Campbell Stadium in Milbank. Kick-off is at 7 p.m.

Milbank sits at 3-4. West Central comes into the game with a 4-3 record. Most recently, the Trojans defeated Dakota Valley of North Sioux City. Earlier this season, they beat Belle Fourche, McCook Central, and Canton. The Tojans took losses from Sioux Falls Christian, Lennox, and Dell Rapids. Milbank needs to win to stay in the hunt for a spot in the playoffs.

The Bulldogs took to the field In their non-conference game against Roncalli at Dacotah Bank Stadium in Aberdeen on Friday, October 11. They might have watched each other on tape, but the two teams hadn’t crossed paths in person since 2018. The Bulldogs won that game six years ago, and the Cavs were looking for their first win since 2015.

Aiden Fischer, quarterback for Roncalli, touched the football all three times the Cavaliers put points on the board. In the first quarter, he threw for a touchdown to get Aberdeen out to a 6-0 lead that continued to frustrate Milbank until the final quarter.

Early in the fourth quarter, Fischer flipped things around and caught a pass for a 21-yard touchdown for six more. The score seemed to build a fresh fire under Milbank, and Bulldog quarterback Braylen Bowsher came out swinging. He hurled a 40-yard bomb to Sam Rick. Rick was wide open and snapped it up to take it to the house. The extra point kick was also good and Milbank whittled Roncalli’s lead down to 12-7 with 8:28 remaining in the game.

It was Roncalli, however, who had another score in them and Fischer lobbed a six -yard TD pass to James Behan with under two minutes to go. Roncalli missed their extra point attempt and the score stayed at 18-7, where it remained until the clock ran out.

Roncalli accrued a total of 280 yards – 190 rushing and 90 passing. Bowsher put up 101 yards in the air on 8-of-17 and 34 yards on the ground. Rick connected on five catches for a total of 80 yards. Carter Gloe, Rick, Bennett Hunt, and Tate Schlueter each made five tackles. Hanson had four and also recovered a fumble. Schlueter swiped an interception. Owen Tesch, Jesse Schneck, Mason Allen, Layten Osowski, and Ethan Owen had three tackles apiece. Bowsher and Oliver Korth each had one.
