Miss Milbank Jericho Jones began competing in the state Snow Queen Festival in Aberdeen today, January 9. Jericho advanced to the state contest after she was selected as Miss Milbank 2025 at The Valley Express Snow Queen Festival in November.

Jericho joined 25 other contestants from across the state who were welcomed at reception with the Aberden mayor this morning. They spent the afternoon visiting sponsors throughout the Aberdeen area and will end the evening at Skate Night with Frosty.

The girls will be busy again tomorrow with interviews, workshops, the banquet, and the ball. Saturday will also be packed with community activities, rehearsals, and preparations up until Coronation at 7 p.m. The new South Dakota Snow Queen will be selected at the Aberdeen Civic Theatre. Olviia Hadrick of Faulkton, the 2024 South Dakota Snow Queen, will crown her successor. Tickets will be available at the door. 

The 2025 South Dakota Snow Queen will represent our state at the Minneapolis Aquatennial, Applefest, the Brown County Fair,  Knight for a Princess, Sizzlin’ Summer Nights,  Storybook Land, Montevideo Fiesta Days, and many other events. 

Last weekend, Everleigh Kirk of Sisseton was crowned the 2025 Junior Snow Queen. Ava Bjerke of Webster was named the first runner up. Amyah Wilson of Northwestern was chosen as the second runner up and Miss Congeniality.The 2025 Junior Snow Queen will accompany the 2025 Snow Queen to events throughout the year.
