Grant County veterans are coming together to help their fellow veterans with a new program called Groceries for Veterans. Five veterans groups donated money to purchase 50 boxes of groceries. The boxes will be distributed by representatives from the groups starting at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 4, at Berens Market in Milbank. Berens will pay for transportation to their store by Milbank Transit. To schedule a ride, phone 605.432.4866.

Bob Frink, a veteran and one of the coordinators of the event, says, “If you are a veteran and would like to receive a box of groceries, just bring your VA ID card, a driver’s license with “Veteran” on it or a DD214. Widows can show their spouse’s DD214 to qualify. That’s it!”

Milbank Area Sponsors of Groceries for Veterans:
American Legion Birch Miller Post #9
Disabled American Veterans Chapter #19
Veterans of Foreign Wars –  Chapter 3486
Vietnam Veterans of America –  Chapter 1054

Frink says,” We also plan to give out groceries in October, November, and December”  Keep up with The Valley Express for those exact dates.
