84 MHS Band Members Perform at Region III Contest

Milbank High School took 84 band members to the Region III solo and ensemble music contest hosted by Watertown High School on Wednesday, February 26. The event included 34 solos and eight ensembles. Milbank received three Superior Plus ratings, 29 Superiors, and 10 Excellents.

Scores were based on: tone, intonation, rhythm, interpretation/musicianship, technique, and other performance factors. Each key criterion was worth five points.

• The brass and woodwind ensemble ratings are: Superior (I) 35-31 points, Excellent (II) 30-26 points, Good (III) 25-21 points, Fair (IV) 20-16 points, and Poor (V) 15 and under.
• The brass and woodwind solo ratings are: Superior (I) 30-26 points, Excellent (II) 25-21 points, Good (III) 20-16 points, Fair (IV) 15-11 points, and Poor (V) 10 and under.
• The percussion solo and ensemble ratings are: Superior (I) 25-21 points, Excellent (II) 20-16 points, Good (III) 15-11 points, Fair (IV) 10-6 points, and Poor (V) 6 and under.
