Milbank Blood Drive Collects 41 Units Despite Weather

Even in the face of challenging winter weather, the people of Milbank again stepped up at the Milbank Community Blood Drive on Thursday, December 11. Forty-three people registered to donate, and 41 units of blood were successfully collected. LifeServe Blood Center supplies blood to hospitals across South Dakota, Iowa, and Nebraska. According to LifeServe, the Milbank donations will help save up to 123 lives. Lori Dietmeier of Milbank served as the local coordinator of the drive.

2-Gallon Donor: Stacy Van Sambeek
4-Gallon Donor: Norine Mohs
9-Gallon Donor: Connie Lesnar
“These milestone donors represent years of commitment and generosity,” said Abbie Arneson, territory representative for LifeServe Blood Center. “Each gallon donated reflects countless patients helped and lives changed.”
“We are proud to be the sole blood provider for Avera Milbank Area Hospital,” added Arneson. “Being present in Milbank and partnering with such a dedicated community helps ensure that local patients have access to lifesaving blood when they need it most. This community has a strong history of supporting blood donation, and it shows time and time again.”
Donors who have previously donated through another blood center are encouraged to transfer their donation history to LifeServe Blood Center so their lifetime milestones and recognitions are accurately reflected.
