
The Grant County Development Corporation (GCDC) has been awarded $75,000 from the South Dakota Community Foundation to launch the Bright Futures Childcare Initiative – a countywide program to support childcare providers and expand childcare capacity. Applications for provider support are expected to open Monday, August 17.
According to the South Dakota Community Foundation, Through the Bright Futures Childcare program, GCDC will support local childcare providers with facility safety upgrades, provider training, and the creation of new licensed childcare slots across the county. In its first year, Bright futures aims to support eight to 12 childcare providers and positively impact 75 to 100 working families.
While final program details will be announced when applications open, funding is expected to support areas such as provider start-up and expansion assistance, business sustainability support, and efforts to increase infant and toddler care capacity.
