Absentee voting began today, Friday, September 18, in Grant County, as well as across South Dakota. However, each state has its own set of rules. Check the box below to see how each state handles this process.
Important Dates to Remember
September 18 — Absentee Voting Begins
October 19 —Voter Registration Deadline
November 1 at 2 a.m. —-Daylight Savings Time Ends – Clocks “fall back”
November 2 at 5 p.m. local time — Last day to request an absentee ballot
November 3 — GENERAL ELECTION DAY — Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
A registered voter can vote absentee at the office of the Grant County Auditor in the Grant County Courthouse. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Remember to bring your photo ID.
A ballot can also be mailed to a registered voter. Make sure voter registration requirements have been met. Complete the absentee ballot request form. Ballot requests must be notarized or accompanied by a copy of the voter’s driver’s license.
An absentee ballot can be returned by mail or in person on or before November 3. An absentee ballot delivered to a polling place, absentee counting board, or the office of the person in charge of the election after the polls have closed in that county may not be opened or counted.
