Grant County veterans are coming together for the second time this year to help their fellow veterans in a program called Groceries for Veterans. Five organizations devoted to veterans have donated the money to purchase boxes of groceries. The boxes will be distributed by representatives from the groups on Tuesday, October 7, at Berens Market in Milbank. Distribution starts at 8 a.m..
Bob Frink, a veteran and one of the coordinators of the event, said, “If you are a veteran and would like to receive a box of groceries, just bring your VA ID card, a driver’s license with “Veteran” on it, or a DD214. Widows can show their spouse’s DD214 to qualify. That’s it!”
Milbank Area Sponsors of Groceries for Veterans:

According to Frink, Groceries for Vets events will also be held in Milbank on November 13 and December 16. “We will be handing out eighty boxes of groceries each time,” he stated.
Frink also noted, “The first handout was so successful that we’re also going to try to have handouts in Clear Lake, Willow Lake, Sisseton, Webster, and Gary in November and December. “ The local veterans groups and businesses are contributing in an effort to increase the number of veterans who will receive groceries.
