A total of 45 donors stepped up to help save lives during the LifeServe Blood Center community blood drive held in Milbank on Tuesday, October 7. Of those 45 donors, 40 were eligible to give, and 39 units were collected. Abbie Arneson, territory representative of LifeServe Blood Center said, “That’s enough to impact up to 117 patients across South Dakota. Every donor who rolls up a sleeve helps ensure blood is available for local patients when it’s needed most.”
Mark Zemlicka reached his 15-gallon milestone. First-time donors included Linda Berens, Thomas Berens, Kaitlyn Brandenburger, Laurie Folk, Jodi Jensen, Charles Koch, Darcie O’Farrell, and Michael Poitra.
LifeServe became the sole provider of blood for the Milbank Area Hospital Avera in December 2024. The organization continues to provide blood products to more than 40 additional hospitals across South Dakota.
“We take that responsibility very seriously,” added Arneson. “Every donor who gives with LifeServe is directly helping their neighbors, family, and friends right here in South Dakota.”
