David Muldoon, 78, of Big Stone City, SD, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at his home in Big Stone City, due to prostate cancer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Big Stone City, SD. Fr. Dan Smith will celebrate the Mass, and interment will be at St. Charles Cemetery in Big Stone City, SD. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank, SD, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and will close with a rosary service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Monday. 

David John Muldoon was born on October 17, 1947, to J. Arley and Irene (Deisch) Muldoon in Pierre, SD. David graduated from Presho High School in 1965, from Black Hills State College in 1969, and University of Nebraska (MAT) in 1972. On November 26, 1971, he married Denise Peoples in Mitchell, SD. This union was blessed with two children: Laura and Matthew. David taught at public high schools and middle schools for 48 years. During that time, he taught in Stickney, SD; Douglas, WY; and Scotland, Milbank, Summit, and Waubay, SD. He taught all areas of mathematics, chemistry, physics, computer science, and photography. At Waubay and Summit, he was the school computer/network tech. David enjoyed working, fishing, hunting, photography, and traveling. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Denise of Big Stone City, SD; daughter, Laura (Joe Frevert) Muldoon of Milbank, SD; son, Matthew (Ashley) Muldoon of Sioux Falls, SD; brother, Pat (Ruth) Muldoon of Gladstone, MO. Other survivors include beloved granddaughter, Hadley Muldoon of Sioux Falls, SD; friends: Bruce and Janell Beckman of Lake Preston, SD; Jeff and Lisa Busch of Florida; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents: J. Arley and Irene (Deisch) Muldoon; three sisters: Mary Smith, Nancy Hall, and infant, Constance; one brother, James.
