Milbank area residents gave 47 units of blood at the LifeServe Blood Center blood drive held February 26 at the 4-H Building in Milbank. First-time donors included Douglas Barlund, Michael Puente, and Donald Weber.

“First-time donors are the future of our blood supply,” said Abbie Arneson, territory representative for LifeServe. “It is always encouraging to see new members of the community step forward and begin what we hope will become a lifelong commitment to saving lives.”  Susan Sime of Milbank was recognized by LifeServe for coordinating the drive and for actively recruiting donors to ensure its success.

LifeServe stated 43 individuals registered to donate, and 41 were successful donors. Lifeserve also estimated the 47 units collected in Milbank would be enough to help up to 141 patients.
